Can Frank Martin dethrone Gervonta Davis, or will “the new face of boxing” successfully defend his WBA lightweight title in Las Vegas?
Davis won the WBA (Regular) lightweight title in 2019. He has defended the belt four times, with his last title defense coming in January 2023 against Hector Luis Garcia. The two-division champion is known for intimidating his opponents heading into fight night. He has attempted to do the dame against Martin, who he knows well from sparring sessions.
“I got in his head a little bit. Yeah, he was a little intimidated, even his brother. The people that were with him looked intimidated,” Davis told PPV.com via Boxing News 24/7. “We got to see on June 15th if he’s really intimidated. I sparred him before at the Mayweather gym. Nothing really personal. It was just two young guys that was trying to make something out of nothing.”
Martin beat Artem Harutyunyan last year, forcing the German fighter to take a knee. That was the last time “The Ghost” fought. He has 12 wins via knockout and has never gotten dropped.
